Infocus LP260…Simple Lamp

There is nothing that really stands out about the Infocus LP260, but that is perhaps why this particular model has lasted for such a long time. It is a projector that had been built with simplicity in mind, well actually, when it first debuted in the year 2000 there wasn’t much to add for the price range.

The original price tag of $3000 implies that the LP260 was a low-to-mid-range projector that offered pretty much the most basic options, lumens, and resolution. This is the reason why you rarely hear of many of them breaking down. With fewer options, there is less that can go wrong.

The LP260 stuck to the lowest wattage projector lamp, but was still able to maintain 700 ANSI lumens of brightness. Infocus was definitely doing something right since by using a low wattage projector lamp it was able to keep the noise level at a minimum. The projector lamp also lasts for at least 2000 hours. I don’t recommend watching movies in mid-daylight, but keep that ambient light away and you should be fine.

For those of you who are thinking about looking for a used projector that will be for the most part hassle free, then you perhaps should choose the LP260. It is as solid as a rock and requires minimal maintenance

In fact, my friend came over one day, and at the time I was simply placing the projector on a high table behind some low-lying couches, and he knocked over the projector. It fell backwards losing the cord and hitting the back end into my carpet. The projector was perched on a table that was four feet high and when it fell I thought it was game over. To my surprise, after almost strangling my friend, I plugged it in and it turned on with no apparent problems.

The resolution for this stunner is a modest SVGA quality of 800x600p, which is good enough for most applications unless you plan on watching high definition television. The contrast ratio could be a little bit better however, the LP260 really pushes it to the limit because 300:1 never looked so good.

The projector lamp is quite inexpensive and can be purchased by clicking here Infocus LP260. It won’t set you back a bundle like you were thinking and it is always smart to keep a spare kicking around. Check out used deals if you are just starting out, it is a good first step.
