Hitachi CP-X970: Interchanged Projector and Lamp
The Hitachi CP-X970 was released in early 2001, what most people don’t know is that the projector was advertised under several different names for several different brand names manufacturers. The projector has been released as the 3M 8770, the Liesegang DV-360 and the Dukane 8900 Imagepro. So why do companies come out with projectors that are exactly the same in almost every regard except for the name? The reason is simple. Cost. A lot of times projector brand names that are not juggernauts in the industry (i.e Sanyo, NEC, Sony etc) combine their forces so that they can compete on an even profit margin playing field as the rest of the big boys. If you’ve ever been involved in selling anything to anyone for a small business, you probably have some sort of feel for how this goes. And so, you can’t really blame Hitachi for teaming up on this product as well.
But does that mean that these products are inferior to projectors made by the big brand name companies? Certainly not. Let’s examine the CP-X970 for example. The specs are solid, the projector has a magnificent projector lamp inside, that is still considered to be on the cutting edge of technology. The 190W UHB projector lamp outputs 2200 ANSI lumens, making it one of the brightest lamps of the year in 2001 and it is still considered to be one of the brighter lamps on the market. The projector lamp is available right here at MyProjectorLamps.com for $282.99 plus shipping, search for it today!
The CP-X970 also boasts some other pretty impressive technical specifications. For instance, the native resolution on this bad boy is 1024x768 with a maximum capability of 1280x1024, which makes watching DVDs late at night with the ones you love a dream. The one feature that this projector is lacking is the contrast ratio. Typical of so many units built at the beginning of the decade, contrast ratio technology was just not available in what are considered acceptable levels today.
However, these specs easily compete with projectors built in 2001 and make the Hitachi CP-X970 an excellent pick-up if you can find one.
Until next time – take it easy.
