3D Projection: Monkey See, Monkey Do
There is no question that audiences are captivated by larger than life images that jump off the screen. The business case for 3D projector systems has proven itself with the box office success of 3D movies versus their 2-dimensitional counterparts. On a weekly basis, almost all of the latest Hollywood releases are being distributed as 3D films. Customers who must pay a premium to see these films on the silver screen are now wanting their favorite movies in 3D at home. Projector manufacturers on every continent are trying to produce 3D projectors to match this need. Today we evaluate the newest player to enter their version of a 3D projector: Christie .Christie announced at the end of 2010 that it will release the Mirage Series 3D DLP projector line up. These Christie projectors, also known as 3-chip DLP projectors, offer complete compatibility with todays 3D standards; from home entertainment, video gaming, and even educational purposes. The 3-chip DLP projectors feature a dual input image processor. This dual input system allows the Christie Mirage M Series to be ready for Blu-Ray 3D video, PlayStation3 (PS3), and meets the mandatory specifications for HDMI v1.4a.
What makes the Christie 3D projector better than the competition? With the extremely high switching speed and light output capability of Christie DLP Cinema technology, audiences are transported directly into the story with a totally immersive 3D cinema experience. It is the only cinema display technology that can project 3D images at a very fast frame rate and simultaneously offer greater pixel resolution. Consumers are already indicating a vast improvement over past projector systems. There is the concern that many end users indicate discomfort or nausea from the flashes, as the projector goes from frame to frame. The Christie Mirage series reports that its users will not suffer from any discomfort as their projector will flash three times as fast as with a conventional projection. This tripling of the frame rate (from 48fps to 144fps) smoothes the projection, and gives the best motion rendition possible.
The Christie Mirage M Series lineup includes the DS+6K-M; DS+10K-M; HD6K-M; HD10K-M; WU7K-M and the WU12K-M projectors.
It is just a matter of time before we are writing yet another projector review on a big name manufacture with their latest version of a 3D projector. Keep in mind that these units are very new to the market. There is very little literature about the long term effects of using a 3D projector. In addition, the lamp life and quality or brightness of the bulb are yet to be analyzed. As the industry continues to grow, more information will be available to consumers and you can be rest assured that MyProjectorLamps.com will have the replacement bulbs for your 3D projector.
