Infocus X3: Small, Affordable, Crisp.
Infocus has recently released the X3 projector, the latest (following the X1 and X2) in their much lauded and applauded X series. The X3 is quite an amazing machine actually and it retails for thousands of dollars less than those clunky, heavy, back breaking flat screens that you can find selling for $4000 or in your least favorite consumer electronics store. Yes, this Infocus projector is only retailing for around $1,200, and that’s about three times less or X3 less than the best televisions on the market. And if that weren’t enough, the X3 projector produces an image that is about X3 (three) times larger than those televisions as well. Starting to get the point, well, let’s look into the specs on this projector. The great things about the X3 is that it was released in May 2005 and so that means sick specs. For instance, the contrast ratio on this projector is 2000:1; those contrast levels have rarely been talked about, much less implemented pre-2005. The projector lamp inside the unit utilizes the cutting edge in projector lamp technology, with its 200W projector lamp. (On a side note; recently, higher wattage projector lamps have become more readily available as stronger, more heat resistant reflectors have dropped significantly in price). A 200W projector lamp means a couple of things for you, the consumer. First and foremost it means that projector brand names such as Infocus are able to generate higher ANSI Lumens rates. For example, on the X3 the ANSI lumens rate is 1600, a figure that nears the top of most high-end projectors. Bottom line, a higher ANSI lumens rate means a brighter picture, which allows you to watch your projector in the daytime, as well as at night.
The X3 seemingly has it all. We tested the Infocus X3 while watching the Major League Baseball All-Star Game in High-Definition. Now, the game was pretty lame, but the Infocus X3 performed amazingly. The projector has three settings for HDTV and is geared towards that type of experience - it was a joy to watch.
Overall the Infocus is highly recommended, be sure to visit myprojectorlamps.com frequently over the coming months as we will no doubt be carrying replacement projector lamps for this beautiful projector.
