Samsung SP-H700AE Projector; BP47-00010A Projector Lamp
Samsung has been in the projector market for quite some time now despite almost exclusively being known for their line of RPTV models. Samsung is advancing far faster than most electronic companies by leading the way in research and development, and thus are able to present their products earlier and become the trendsetters. This fact is represented well in the cell phone and TV market as well as the lesser known projector market with Samsungs introduction into the projector world. The SP-H700AE is a high end projector model that came out half a decade ago in late 2004 at a price tag of nearly $12,000 USD. In this price range Samsung was able to provide its customers with the contrast, image quality and resolution that they demanded. Samsung is very familiar with DLP technology and so decided that its projector would use Digital Light Projection as its method of displaying an image onto the screen on this model and was very close in achieving true HD definition resolution. They have employed a 6 segment color wheel with a 5x refresh rate, which means that it will look very close to real life.
The contrast ratio is a whopping 2800:1 which delivers stunning blacks, and vibrant colors plus its native resolution was 1280x720p, which is a wide screen format allowing for a aspect ratio of 16:9 to be used. The projector lamp is a 250W UHP lamp and allows for 700 ANSI lumens of brightness, which seems a little low for such a high powered lamp. You must make sure you have a room with very little ambient light present to take full advantage of the picture quality. The lamp part number for the SP-H700AE is named BP47-00010A and can be a little hard to find if you are looking for a lamp replacement, however if you call the kind staff at myprojectorlamps.com they should be able to ship one out to you at a great price.
The SP-H700AE is a quiet machine with an audible noise level of 33.0 dB and is compatible with all major connection inputs including DVI-D and HD 1080i. It is a little heavy at 20 lbs, however I think that it was designed with home theatre in mind, and keeping it in a certain location without moving it.
Overall, a great projector and if you bought one, you probably still have it today.
