Projector and Lamp In the Middle East
BenQ has been a leader in the projector industry for quite some time now and has opened the market to many different types of consumers. At first, it was attacking the low-end entry level projectors and providing a good product at lower price-points. Then they diversified to a variety of projector types for differing uses such as Office vs. Home Theatre. Now BenQ is leading the field in pushing to new markets such as the Middle-East in a not-so-subtle way.The Middle-East has had the resources to be a region that is very technologically advanced, however bringing in products to this region has been slower due to the lack of awareness. Many companies have opened shop in places like Dubai, and due to their tax incentives place like Dubai have earned quite a good reputation among multinational corporations. There are many differing opinions and consequences when these corporations enter the region, but this doesn’t hide the fact that there is quite a large market for projector manufacturers.
In the past, many companies based in the Middle-East have had to import projectors and projector lamps with long lead times and expensive shipping costs, not to mention the trouble with getting efficient service. Now with projector manufacturers setting up divisions in different countries within the region, it makes it easier for these Middle-Eastern companies to purchase new products.
Shipping from the United States to countries in the Middle-East has always been expensive, and with higher oil prices, the fuel surcharges have sky-rocketed making it even more expensive than before. And, even though companies like BenQ will still account for this cost when they bring their products in to their locations within the region, it none the less makes it easier for people to purchase considering the product is already within their reach.
The other bonus for customers in having a BenQ division in the Middle-East is the service and repair segment of the industry, which will make things much easier for those who experience problems. Those who deal in high end technology products know that customer service is king, due to the errors that can occur on the production line.
BenQ and it’s rivals will continue to attack the markets that were previously under the radar and ultimately saturate the market, but as it goes, it will be the trailblazers who will enjoy the spoils.
