LG’s Wall Mounted HD Projector.

LG has become the first company in the world to introduce a wall mounted HD projector. The projector goes by the name of AN110 and is specifically designed for home cinema use. The projector falls just short of displaying a true 1080 compressed HD feed and mounts to the wall in a unique way.

The projector mounts onto the wall much like a portrait or a picture might on the wall and the projector lamp emits light out of the front of the projector. However, the front of the projector looks like the top of a traditional projector and so the design is very interesting and unique.

The AN110 projector is a shiny black and also comes in silver as well. The projector lamp within the units emits a light that is 1800 ANSI Lumens and supports a stunning contrast ratio of 2500:1.

On a side note, it is really good to see that contrast ratios have improved so much in the past year and a half – projectors really seems to be coming into their own and now are able to compete with traditional televisions on an even or even superior basis.

In regards to the AN110 projector, it will be interesting to see if this mounting format start to become the norm in the projector industry or if it just becomes a fad, and quirky design that a small percentage of consumers flock to.

Regardless of what happens, it is exciting that a company has discovered a way to cram all the required HD technology into a wall mounted projector - and, at the same time, managed to create an environment within the projector that does not overheat the projector lamp. An overheating projector lamp as caused the downfall of some entire brands in the projector industry and it undoubtedly will again in the future as engineers push the limits of what is possible.
