Projector and Lamp Sales 2005: Review
In the future, when we look back at our technological history and in particular the history of entertainment, we will probably notice the shift that is taking place right now. In many respects, the shift from traditional television to front DLP and LCD projector’s is integrating itself into the matrix of our lives in a subtle and most of the times almost unnoticeable way. Projectors have been around for a long time, and so they are common place and not a “big deal”. But, the technology inside them is now advancing far enough along and many people are using them as replacements for their televisions and this is big news.In fact, the projector industry’s growth in 2005 is huge news for investors and projector lamp sites like MyProjectorLamps.com. 2005 was a record year for projector sales. 4.1 million units were sold in 2005 alone and this is big news for the industry. It is a 17% increase over the previous year.
Epson tops the charts
Epson, the Japanese consumer electronics maker that produces just about 50% of the world’s LCD panels also was heralded as the most popular brand of projector in 2005. There are a couple reasons Epson projectors are popular. The first reason being, of course, the price. As mentioned, Epson produces the LCD panels that are inside projectors, therefore they probably have at least a 100 to 400 dollar advantage over every single one of their competitors. The second reason Epson is doing so well in the projector industry is the quality of their machines. And again, their superior quality is due to the fact that the company is always on the cutting edge of the LCD technology.
