Viewsonic PJ1200, Put It Anywhere!

Have you ever had the dilemma of not being able to place your projector where you wanted due to bad ventilation. Most fans on projectors are either on the back or the side of the projector, preventing you from positioning it against a wall. The Viewsonic PJ1200 is an older machine that turned this notion upside down.

The PJ1200 has cleverly built its fan to project forward, allowing you to place your projector against the back wall or in the corner and still allow for good ventilation. As we all know or should know, keeping your projector cool is the lifeline for both your projector lamp, as well as other components such as your LCD screen inside your projector.

The Viewsonic PJ1200 is no vanguard in the ranks of the brightest and clearest picture, however, for the occasional user who doesn’t want to spend much, it is a great choice. It was manufactured slightly before the end of the 20th Century, and this can guarantee you a good price when bargaining for a used one. You might be able to get away with a price point under $400 US, which is priced less than a new projector lamp. However, chances are the machine does not come with a lamp that has many good hours left.

The good thing about this is that after all these years the lamp is still available and can be purchased by clicking here PJ1200

Another bonus about this projector is that since it uses a low wattage 150W projector lamp, the lamp life is rated for 2500 hours. The low wattage lamp doesn’t burn as hot and therefore is easier to cool during use. The well ventilated and effectively cooled lamps seems to last longer than those that are not sufficiently cooled.

The PJ1200 doesn’t have the best contrast ratio, however if you do not need it for HD or do not mind having a perfectly crisp picture it will do the job with its ratio of 200:1. The brightness isn’t bad for an older machine sitting at 1000 ANSI, which is good enough for a semi dark room. And finally, the resolution is 1024x768, which is pretty standard but also good enough for most uses.

That about all we can say for this projector, but we encourage first time “second hand” buyers to check this one out, you may be pleasantly surprised.
