Philips Hopper SV20: Deep Impact.

The Philips Hopper SV20i has been a hot seller for a long time now. The projector first debuted in the year 2000 claiming to be a brighter solution for consumers that were frustrated by projector lamp’s that were just too dim. The projector lamp inside the unit distributes a healthy 1250 ANSI lumens and five years ago this amount of light output seemed almost abnormal let alone possible. Therefore, the Philips SV20i became extremely popular and launched with rave reviews and much excitement.

Since that time, the projector has sold hundreds of thousands of units and continues to be extremely popular for businesses and home theater lovers alike. The fantastic thing about this projector is that it was one of the first projectors to utilize Philips’ UHP lamps, which were a brand new invention at the time.

Before UHP lamps became available Philips and other companies used Metal Halide lamps inside their projectors. Metal Halide lamps are very similar to UHP lamps, with the only difference being that the latter tend to burn at a cooler temperature and emit a brighter beam of light. So, armed with the Philips UHP lamp the Hopper SV20i had a huge advantage over a lot of other projectors around the year 2000. Of course, that would all change because other companies figured out how to manufacture UHP style lamps and eventually Philips decided to start selling these projector lamps for other companies to use in their units.

As mentioned, the Philips SV20i was one of the first projectors to utilize the UHP projector lamps. However, this fact has some adverse effects for consumers. A lot of consumers complained that the projector lamps didn’t last very long and in this unit they don’t. They were also very expensive at the time and since then have only become more costly because of supply and demand issues.

The great news is myprojectorlamps.com has solved this problem and is now selling lamps for this unit that last 3000 to 6000 hours depending on the wattage of your lamp (150W or 120W respectively). Type LCA3109 or LCA3108 into the search below to find the lamp for this unit.
