The Eiki LC-NB2 Projector and Lamp

The Eiki LC-NB2 is one of those rare projectors that uses the same identification number for its projector and for the projector lamp that comes with the unit. But, that is not all that is unique about this projector. Eiki is first and foremost a communications company that later, naturally, moved its way into the projector market. One of the first commercial projector successes Eiki had was with the LC-NB2. It is a solid projector and when it first debuted it had a few things that the others didn’t.

For instance, the Eiki LC-NB2 was one of the first projectors to include an onboard speaker. Now the speaker was only a 1-watter, mono format thingy. But helped Eiki establish the image that they were a company willing to commit the resources, effort and desire to be on the cutting edge of technology.

However, the NB2 projector does have some downfalls as well and I think they are important to mention, as they will be especially important for people looking to buy this particular projector used. The first point to take into consideration is that this projector only pumps out a contrast ratio of 250:1; what that means to you is that dark scenes may be flooded out a little and you may not be able to distinguish where the details begin and the black background ends.

With that said, the projector does have a lot of positives to take into consideration. One of the best things about this projector is that, unlike some projectors in the market, the projector lamps for the LC-NB2 will always be available.

Some other positives about the NB2 are that it boasts 1200 ANSI lumens for its projector lamps, which is still competitive by today’s standards - it is also HDTV compatible with an ”okay” native resolution of 800x600. These features will at least make watching a movie enjoyable and if you’re picking one up solely for that purpose then it’s a no-brainer.

Overall, the Eiki LC-NB2(U) performs well and has a projector lamp that will never be out of stock. If you can find one for under $300, I’d say go for it. Until next time – take it easy.
